In feng shui, any shape that is columnar, like pillars, fence posts or tree trunks, is considered a wood energy.  Wood is the energy of growth, like a sapling growing into a giant oak. It is used in feng shui to represent uplift or upward movement.  The colors are all shades of green and blue-green.
